Nigeria-South Africa Chamber Has Harmonious Talk Over Xenophobia
The Nigeria-South Africa Chamber of Commerce, NSACC, has called for calm, dialogue and strengthened bilateral cooperation amid recent xenophobic unrest in South Africa.
The Chairman of NSACC, Dr Ije Jidenma, made the call in a statement on Tuesday in Lagos.
The Federal Government has taken steps, including diplomatic engagements, investigations, legislative actions and voluntary evacuations to address the situation.
Jidenma expressed deep concern over the unrest in parts of South Africa, noting that the situation affected communities, businesses and livelihoods.
According to her, the chamber is particularly concerned about the impact on Nigerians and other African nationals living in South Africa, as well as the adverse effect on South African businesses and the broader investment climate.
She added that “as an organisation committed to fostering strong economic and cultural ties between Nigeria and South Africa, we emphasise that moments like this call for restraint and constructive engagements.
“Both nations share long-standing relationships built on mutual respect, cooperation, trade and a shared vision for African prosperity.
“These values must remain at the forefront during periods of tension such as this.”
Jidenma urged governments, community leaders, Civil Society Organisations, CSOs and citizens to prioritise peaceful dialogue and uphold the rule of law.
She said ensuring the safety and protection of all residents, irrespective of nationality, was essential to maintaining trust and stability.
The NSACC chairman also called for continued collaboration between Nigerian and South African authorities to address underlying issues, prevent escalation and strengthen mechanisms that support conflict resolution and social cohesion.
“Our thoughts are with all those affected. We remain committed to working alongside our partners to promote unity, economic resilience and renewed focus on the shared opportunities that bind our two nations,” she said.

BREAKING:Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC Dismisses Obetta’s Claim, Reaffirms Johnpaul Ani As Enugu Chairman
The leadership crisis rocking the Enugu State chapter of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, deepened on Tuesday as the party insisted that Dr. Johnpaul Anih remains the duly elected chairman of the party in the state.
In a statement signed by the NDC state Publicity Secretary, Emmanuel Ugwueze, the party dismissed claims by Engr. Ibuchukwu Obetta, who allegedly reaffirmed himself as chairman of the party in Enugu State.
Ugwueze described Obetta’s claim as a deliberate attempt to mislead party members and the public about the authentic leadership structure of the NDC in the state.
According to the statement, the state congress of the party, conducted in line with the party constitution and the Electoral Act, produced Anih as the substantive chairman.
The party said the congress was attended by delegates, stakeholders and members from the 17 local government areas of the state.
The NDC further stated that the recently concluded National Convention marked the end of all interim and protem leadership structures within the party, making all duly elected officers the legitimate leaders at various levels.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the duly conducted state congress of the party in Enugu State produced Dr. Johnpaul Anih as the substantive State Chairman of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC). The congress was attended by delegates, stakeholders, and party faithful from across the 17 local government areas of the state and followed the constitutional guidelines of the party and the Electoral Act.
“The just concluded National Convention marked the end of every protem or interim leadership structure within the party, thereby making every duly elected officer across different levels the legitimate and recognized leaders of the NDC,” Ugwueze said.
The party added that leadership positions could only be attained through democratic and constitutional procedures, not through “self-declaration and media propaganda.”
NDC therefore warned aspirants and supporters against making payments into personal accounts of individuals allegedly claiming to be party leaders, noting that such actions could amount to fraud.

REBUTTAL: Don Jazzy Rebuts Prioritising Certain Artists In His Label Over Others
Music executive, Michael Collins Ajereh, popularly known as Don Jazzy, has denied allegations that his record label, Mavin Records prioritises some artists over others in terms of promotion and other opportunities.
Speaking in a recent episode of the Crea8torium podcast, the music producer said it made no sense that a record label would invest in an artist and ignore the artist in a bid to promote another.
He claimed that the artists who are not making waves and releasing fewer songs in Mavin are responsible for their decisions and not the record label.
He also claimed that imposter syndrome and overthinking are responsible for the allegations of neglect by artists who assume their colleagues are treated better.
“We do see lots of comments that we do not prioritise some artists. But that isn’t true. It’s like I would just carry my money and just throw it away, just lock it inside somewhere. We obviously, invest in people to make us and themselves money.
“So, the idea that we would have artists and not want to prioritise them is not real. If you see an artist in Mavin and the artist only releases one or two songs in a year, just know that it is the artist’s decision. If the artist has 1 million songs and they want to release them, we can release them. Most of them actually have imposter syndrome. It’s normal. We are all human beings, so sometimes they can panic and overthink things. But there is no such thing as prioritising one artist over another,” Jazzy said.
