TikToker Arrested Over Faking Kidnapping To Gain Followers
The Edo state Police command has arrested a 24-year-old TikTok content creator, Osarobo Omoyemen, popularly known online as “Madam Oil Rice”, for allegedly faking her own kidnapping in an attempt to boost her social media following.
Omoyemen was arrested after investigations revealed that her viral claim of being abducted along Upper Sakponba Road in Benin City was fabricated.
She had alleged in a video that has now been deleted that she was rescued by police operatives, detained at Akpata Police atation, and forced to pay a N10,000 bail fee.
In a statement, the Police public Relations Officer, CPS Moses Yamu, said the command immediately launched an investigation after the video began circulating.“Findings revealed that the entire story was completely fabricated and deliberate. The suspect has been identified, arrested, and charged to court on Thursday, 20th November, 2025. Efforts are ongoing to arrest her accomplices to ensure they face the full weight of the law.”
The police spokesperson further cautioned the public against spreading false information capable of causing panic or undermining security efforts.“Members of the public are advised to verify information before sharing and to refrain from acts that may mislead the public or undermine the efforts of security agencies,” he said.
During interrogation, Omoyemen reportedly confessed that she staged the incident for the sole purpose of generating online content and increasing her TikTok followers. Police said she also deleted an earlier version of the video, which showed an accomplice urging viewers to follow her page an act investigators say betrayed the motive behind the stunt.
According to the Command, the false alarm was not only misleading but capable of “inciting hostility against the Police and triggering unnecessary tension within the state.”
The arrest, the statement added, is intended to serve as a deterrent to social media users tempted to exploit public fear for online engagement.

Morocco Winners of AFCON 2025, Strips Senegal of Title
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced Morocco as winners of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The CAF Appeal Board ruled in favour of Morocco, declaring that Senegal forfeited the AFCON final by walking off the field during the game.
Morocco were awarded a 3–0 walkover victory.
This decision upholds Morocco’s appeal following the chaotic events in the match.
DAILY POST recalls that the Senegal team briefly walked off the pitch in protest after a controversial penalty was awarded to Morocco late in regulation time.
They were called back to the field by their captain, Sadio Mané, and later won the game 1–0.
CAF determined that this action constituted a violation of Article 84, or the equivalent regulations concerning refusal to play or abandoning the field.
Under AFCON rules, a team that refuses to continue playing or leaves the field without authorization faces elimination and forfeiture of the match.

A total of three operatives of different security agencies in Anambra State collapsed during the inauguration of Anambra State Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, on Tuesday.
The incident happened during the parade at the Dr Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka.
The three operatives are one male police operative, another male operative of the Directorate of State Services (DSS) and a female operative of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC.
The police operative collapsed first, followed by the NSCDC operative, who slumped towards the end of the event and was later escorted to an ambulance, after she refused to be moved in a stretcher.
A source said the police operative was later resuscitated, but was still not stable, and was taken in an ambulance to Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku Awka.
The collapse of the service officers was attributed to fatigue and the long period of parade under harsh sunny weather.
