Femi Azeez Declares Dreams of Premier League Chance

Published

on

Femi Azeez has declared his ambition to reach the Premier League after marking his Super Eagles debut with two goals against Zimbabwe in Nigeria’s 2-0 Unity Cup semi-final victory, a performance that made him the first Nigerian debutant to score twice for the senior team in 55 years, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

The 24-year-old Millwall forward, who arrived at the tournament on the back of a 19-goal-contribution season across 35 Championship appearances, has quickly identified the international stage as the springboard to the next phase of his career.

“I had a good season in the Championship and obviously, to do it on the international stage as well was just that next step up,” Azeez told Sky Sports.

“Whenever I achieve something, I’m always hungry for more. I’m never satisfied with what I’ve got. I’m always going to work towards that next level because I’m ambitious as a footballer and as a person, and I want to reach as high a level as possible.”

The winger was direct about his top-flight ambitions, saying, “The Premier League is obviously the pinnacle of football. I’d love to play in the Premier League. So obviously, working hard, I’m going to do whatever I can to get there.”

Azeez arrived in the Eagles squad having already had a strong domestic season, earning a place in the Championship Team of the Season despite Millwall narrowly missing out on automatic promotion and falling to Hull City in the play-offs. His debut brace at The Valley, Charlton’s ground in London, only sharpened a hunger that was already well established.
