FG Retains 16 Years as Minimum Age for Admission into Tertiary Institutions
The federal government has retained 16 years as the minimum age for admission into tertiary institutions in the country.
Speaking at the 2026 policy meeting on admissions in Abuja, Education Minister Tunji Alausa said the decision reflects “a careful balance between inclusivity and academic readiness.” He noted that exceptionally gifted individuals may be treated within clearly defined guidelines.
Alausa also warned that admissions conducted outside JAMB’s Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) are illegal and will not be recognised, with violators risking sanctions including withdrawal of licences…For more, Complete your reading.
