BREAKING NEWS: Dan Onjeh Withdraws From Benue South APC Senatorial Primary
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and former National President of the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, Comrade Daniel Onjeh, has withdrawn from the Benue South APC Senatorial Primary ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Onjeh announced his withdrawal in a video statement on Monday, citing what he described as the “undemocratic conduct” of the primary process.
The former senatorial candidate said the decision was painful but necessary following developments within the party in Benue South.
“In line with my promise to continue updating you on developments concerning the Benue South APC senatorial primary, I must inform you that I have reached the point of making a very painful but thoughtful decision,” he said.
Onjeh, who described himself as one of the founding members of the APC in Benue South, recalled his contributions towards building the party in the zone.
According to him, he played a major role during the formative years of the party, including mobilizing members and funding party registration activities when the APC evolved from the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN.
“I moved from one community to another, speaking to okada riders, farmers, and ordinary people. I went about evangelizing the party like a Jehovah’s Witness. That was how we built the APC in Benue South,” he stated.
The APC chieftain lamented that despite his sacrifices and commitment to the growth of the party, his efforts appeared to have been taken for granted.
“Despite the conspiracies and machinations against me in the past, I remained in the party because of my commitment to its growth and development. Unfortunately, it appears that all these sacrifices have been taken for granted,” he added.
Onjeh further disclosed that while consultations on the next political step continue, he would no longer participate in the Benue South APC senatorial primary.
“I humbly wish to announce my withdrawal from the Benue South Senatorial Primary due to the undemocratic conduct of the process,” he declared.
