The Imo State Police Command, under the watch of the State Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, has revealed that the Command, within the past six months, arrested 928 criminal suspects involved in various crimes, including kidnapping, armed robbery, cultism, child trafficking, and other offenses.

It further disclosed that it recovered 673 live cartridges, 17 firearms, 72 rounds of ammunition, and 9 stolen motorcycles suspected to have been taken from victims.

The police commissioner made the revelation while addressing journalists at the Command Headquarters in Owerri.

CP Danjuma said the Command was able to achieve this feat through the proactive efforts of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit.

He noted that within the period under review, the Command successfully rescued nine kidnapped victims and seven stolen children, who have since been reunited with their families.

Other exhibits recovered include IEDs, charms, laptops, counterfeit currency, and hard drugs.

The Commissioner further disclosed that a major success of the Command’s operations was the arrest of six notorious kidnap suspects, Chijioke Nwakaudu, Chibuike Ajaere, Richard Ugochukwu, Chuka Anene, Christian Emekwe and Emeka Emezume, who, according to him, had been terrorizing parts of Imo and Anambra States.

“Their arrest led to further recoveries in Obosi, Anambra State, including seven AK-47 rifles, nine pump-action guns, four pistols, 250 rounds of GPMG ammunition, 910 cartridges, and bags of suspected hard drugs.

“The suspects confessed to several kidnappings, including that of 25-year-old Ugochukwu Favour Nwachinemere of Ikembara, Ikeduru LGA, for which N5 million ransom was paid, and the abduction of Mr Ikechukwu on 9th October 2025,” he said.

CP Danjuma used the occasion to commend officers and men of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit for their professionalism and urged residents of the state to continue supporting the police with credible and timely information to sustain the ongoing fight against crime and other anti-social vices.

He added that the Command remains committed to ensuring the safety of all residents and maintaining peace across the state.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced Morocco as winners of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

The CAF Appeal Board ruled in favour of Morocco, declaring that Senegal forfeited the AFCON final by walking off the field during the game.

Morocco were awarded a 3–0 walkover victory.

This decision upholds Morocco’s appeal following the chaotic events in the match.

DAILY POST recalls that the Senegal team briefly walked off the pitch in protest after a controversial penalty was awarded to Morocco late in regulation time.

They were called back to the field by their captain, Sadio Mané, and later won the game 1–0.

CAF determined that this action constituted a violation of Article 84, or the equivalent regulations concerning refusal to play or abandoning the field.

Under AFCON rules, a team that refuses to continue playing or leaves the field without authorization faces elimination and forfeiture of the match.
