Breaking News: 6 Brigade Launches Operation ‘Zafin Water,’ To Tackle Banditry In Southern Taraba
The commander of 6 brigade Nigerian army and sector three operation whirl stroke, brigadier general Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, has rolled out operation zafin wuta, a major clearance mission targeting bandits behind killings, destruction and mass displacement in wukari and takum areas of Taraba state.
The operation follows a series of violent attacks that claimed lives and razed communities, creating a worsening humanitarian situation across southern Taraba. Brigadier general Uwa said the army is fully committed to neutralising the perpetrators and restoring peace.
He also announced that the brigade headquarters has been temporarily moved to the Wukari–Takum axis to allow faster response and sustained pressure on criminal elements.
As part of the operational rollout, the commander visited the Aku Uka of Wukari, king Manu Ishaku Adda Ali, seeking royal blessing and deeper cooperation from the traditional institution. He said traditional rulers play a crucial role in intelligence gathering, mediation and community mobilisation during security operations.
The commander was joined on the visit by the executive secretary of the taraba state emergency management agency, dr Echuseh Audu, who delivered food and relief materials to displaced families on behalf of governor Agbu Kefas. The supplies are meant to ease the hardship of residents affected by recent violence.
The Aku Uka praised the army for its sacrifices and professionalism, promising full support for the mission. He urged communities to work with security agencies by sharing credible information that could help track criminals and prevent more attacks.
Operation zafin wuta signals a renewed multi-agency push to stabilise southern taraba, combining military action, humanitarian support and traditional leadership to restore order in Wukari, Takum and nearby communities.

Morocco Winners of AFCON 2025, Strips Senegal of Title
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced Morocco as winners of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The CAF Appeal Board ruled in favour of Morocco, declaring that Senegal forfeited the AFCON final by walking off the field during the game.
Morocco were awarded a 3–0 walkover victory.
This decision upholds Morocco’s appeal following the chaotic events in the match.
DAILY POST recalls that the Senegal team briefly walked off the pitch in protest after a controversial penalty was awarded to Morocco late in regulation time.
They were called back to the field by their captain, Sadio Mané, and later won the game 1–0.
CAF determined that this action constituted a violation of Article 84, or the equivalent regulations concerning refusal to play or abandoning the field.
Under AFCON rules, a team that refuses to continue playing or leaves the field without authorization faces elimination and forfeiture of the match.
