Rafiu Ajakaye, spokesperson to Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has declared his intention to contest for the House of Representatives seat representing Ifelodun/Offa/Oyun Federal Constituency.

Ajakaye made the announcement in a short Yoruba video shared on his social media handles on Monday, where he appealed to leaders and members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, to support his aspiration.

His declaration comes amid rising political activities and consultations ahead of the 2027 general elections, as aspirants across Kwara State intensify engagements to secure party backing.

Ajakaye, who has served as Chief Press Secretary to Governor AbdulRazaq since 2019, said his decision followed consultations with party stakeholders, elders, and opinion leaders within and outside the constituency.

“I am Rafiu Ajakaye, PhD. I am aspiring as a Member of the House of Representatives, National Assembly, Abuja, under the banner of the APC,” he said.

He noted that effective representation in the National Assembly would strengthen governance and improve the delivery of democratic dividends to constituents.

According to him, collaboration between lawmakers and the state government remains key to development.

“I will be a partner for public good and work closely with all stakeholders to align resources with public needs,” he said.

Ajakaye pledged to provide accountable and responsible representation if elected, while urging party leaders to support his ambition ahead of the APC primaries.

2027 Election: Stay At Home If You Cannot Fight – Datti Baba-Ahmed to Peter Obi

Published

on

Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, the Labour Party presidential running mate with Peter Obi in the 2023 election, has revealed the major problem he has with the former Anambra State governor.

In an interview released on X Monday, Baba-Ahmed told Peter Obi to stay away from the 2027 presidential election if he is not ready to fight.

He faulted Peter Obi’s exit from the Labour Party, noting that he would have remained to address the opposition party’s challenge.

According to him, the north may not rally behind Peter Obi and former Kano Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso’s presidential ticket as being touted by both politicians.

“As much as I dislike what the All Progressives Congress has done against Nigerians, someone who got the Labour Party’s ticket so easily should have stayed to fix the problem of the party no matter how difficult it is.

“My former leader (Peter Obi) saying that wherever there is a quarrel, he will walk away? So there is a quarrel in Nigeria, will he walk away? If you are not ready to fight, stay in your house,” he stated.

Recall that on Sunday, Peter Obi and Kwankwaso dumped the African Democratic Congress for the Nigerian Democratic Congress.

DAILY POST reports that Peter Obi had earlier defected from LP, where he had run for the 2023 presidential election with Baba-Ahmed.

ADC to NDC: 10m Nigerians Register with NDC 24 Hours After Peter Obi Defection – Adebayo

The South West Coordinator of Obi-Kwankwaso, OK Movement, Dr. Adefolaseye Adebayo has claimed that about 10 million Nigerians registered with the Nigerian Democratic Congress, NDC, 24 hours after former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi joined the party.

DAILY POST reports that Obi and former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso on Sunday dumped the African Democratic Congress, ADC for NDC ahead of the next general elections.

The development has triggered criticism, with some claiming that Obi’s chances of becoming Nigerian President are fading away.

Reacting, Adebayo in an interview with Arise TV on Monday, countered the claim, stating that Obi’s followership cut across the six geo-political zones.

According to her, it is about Obi’s personality and capability not political party.

She said, “Mr Peter Obi has a lot of followership across Nigeria. You can’t say that Obi’s chances or the chance of the South East reduced drastically.

“24 hours after Peter Obi left ADC, 10 million Nigerians registered with NDC and that says a lot”.
