A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Magaji Mato, has asked the Taminu Turaki and Nyesom Wike-backed Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to allow the party to breathe.

Speaking during an interview on Arise Television on Sunday, Mato said that the Supreme Court ruling was a win-win for both PDP factions.

He stated that the Supreme Court judgment should push the PDP to set aside personal interests and resolve its crisis.

According to him, both the Wike faction’s appeal and the Turaki faction’s cross-appeal were dismissed.

He added that the ruling favored both sides in part, making each a victor in the eyes of the court.

“Both factions should allow the PDP to breathe. Now, in the cross appeal, you have situations of the presentations of counsel and issues of some grounds of appeal by the other side.

“The implication of that is that both sides should go back to the drawing board, chat a way forward and ensure that the life of that very well-known political party is saved, bury their personal interests, bury their pride, and call all actors together,” he said.
