Breaking News: 2027 Election: Onanuga Mocks Obi for Exiting ADC
The Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga has described the exit of former Anambra Governor, Peter Obi as another example of political opportunism ahead of the 2027 elections.
DAILY POST had reported that Obi announced his resignation on Sunday through his verified X account.
In his statement, the former Labour Party presidential candidate said the same Nigerian state and its agents that created what he described as unnecessary crises and hostility within the Labour Party which forced his exit now appear to be finding their way into the ADC.
In a reaction to this on his X handle Onanuga Bayo said, “We told you so. The political nomad is on the move again. Ignore all those puerile reasons he gave in these illogical musings, a self-serving letter to his mob. Peter Obi is a politician made of jelly, an opportunistic fellow.
“He can’t fight Atiku or Amaechi for the ticket of ADC. He pursues the easy road, that will only lead him to doom, like in 2023. He always blames the government without doing a soul-searching of himself. Welcome, Peter to the 2027 race,” he stated.

An All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship aspirant in Oyo State, Adebayo Adelabu, has disclosed that President Bola Tinubu gave him the green light to resign and contest the gubernatorial election.
Disclosing that he’s the only true son of Tinubu in Oyo State, Adelabu said the president promised to facilitate consensus candidate.
Addressing his supporters, the former Minister said he has not endorsed a specific candidate yet.
He said: “INEC said it’s March 31, I traveled then and the person that appointed me, I would see him before resigning and that was why I delayed it to leave time to see him (Tinubu).
“He also gave the opportunity for Sakotun and Sakosi to create an opportunity to see him and that was why I saw the president last week. We can’t lie against the president in public, it’s not possible, he would hear.
“Tinubu said Bayo the time has come, we had an agreement, you have been on this for long, this young ambition of yours. In as much as I love to have you around me, I will not stop you from pursuing your ambition; resign as Minister and go start work immediately, by God’s grace that’s what Tinubu told me.
“President Tinubu gave me the green light to contest in Oyo and promised to facilitate a consensus. However, he has not endorsed a specific candidate yet.
“He said if a consensus fails, he will call for a direct primary. Make no mistake: I am the only true ‘son of Asiwaju’ in Oyo State.”

Breaking News: Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi Resigns from ADC
Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has resigned from the African Democratic Congress, ADC.
Obi disclosed this in a statement posted on his verified X handle on Sunday.
In his post, Obi alleged that some agents of the Nigerian state who infiltrated the Labour Party and created unnecessary crises and hostility within its ranks that forced him to leave now appear to be finding their way into the ADC.
The former Anambra governor claimed the agents came with endless court cases, internal battles, suspicion, and division, alleging that instead of dealing with deeper national problems of service and nation-building, they focused on playing politics built more on control and exclusion.
He lamented that Nigeria is a society where humility is mistaken for weakness, respect seen as a lack of courage, and compassion treated as foolishness.
According to the former presidential candidate, he had never looked down on anyone except to uplift them, stressing also that he had never used privilege, position, or resources to oppress others, intimidate the weak, or make people feel small.
The politician reiterated that leadership has always been about service, sacrifice, and helping others rise.
“Let me state clearly: my decision to leave the ADC is not because our highly respected Chairman, Senator David Mark, treated me badly, nor because my leader and elder brother, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, or any other respected leaders did anything personally wrong to me. I will continue to respect them.
“However, the same Nigerian state and its agents that created unnecessary crises and hostility within the Labour Party that forced me to leave now appear to be finding their way into the ADC, with endless court cases, internal battles, suspicion, and division, instead of focusing on deeper national problems and playing politics built more on control and exclusion than on service and nation-building.
“Let me assure all that I am not desperate to be President, Vice President, or Senate President. I am desperate to see a society that can console a mother whose child has been kidnapped or killed while going to school or work.
“I am desperate to see a Nigeria where people will not live in IDP camps but in their homes. I am desperate for a country where Nigerian citizens do not go to bed hungry, not knowing where their next meal will come from.
“Yet, despite everything, I remain resolute. I firmly believe that Nigeria can still become a country with competent leadership based on justice, compassion, and equal opportunity for all.
“I woke up this morning after my church service with a deeply reflective heart, and despite every constraint, I felt compelled to share these thoughts with you.
“Many people do not truly understand the silent pains some of us carry daily—the private struggles, emotional burdens, and quiet battles we face while trying to survive and serve sincerely in difficult circumstances.
“We now live in an environment that has become increasingly toxic, where the very system that should protect and create opportunities for decent living often works against the people—a society where intimidation, insecurity, endless scrutiny, and discouragement have become normal,” he wrote.
