The African Democratic Congress, ADC, in Rivers State has dismissed concerns about internal stability, insisting it remains unified and active despite recent developments on the national political scene.

It added that its organisational structure is intact and functioning across all 23 local government areas.

This assurance was given by the state chairman-elect, Chukwudi Dimkpa, in a statement released to journalists in Port Harcourt.

The reaction follows the defection of former Anambra State governor Peter Obi and former Kano State governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso from the ADC to join the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC.

Dimkpa, however, said the defections do not weaken the party, stressing that its strength is anchored on shared principles rather than personalities.

He noted that the current situation offers an avenue for the party to intensify grassroots mobilisation and further strengthen its presence at the ward, local government, and state levels.

“The African Democratic Congress in Rivers State wishes to reassure its members, supporters, and the good people of the state that the party remains strong, united, and firmly committed to its mission of delivering people-oriented leadership and governance.

“The ADC in Rivers State emphasises that the strength of the party lies not in individuals, but in its values, structures, and the collective will of the people.

“We are focused on providing relief, restoring dignity, and building a future of shared prosperity for all.”

The party also reiterated its commitment to offering a viable alternative through accountable leadership, economic opportunities, social justice, and inclusive governance.

It urged members to remain steadfast and encouraged residents to participate in the ongoing registration exercise as part of efforts to broaden its support base.
