Operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, Ogun State Police Command, have dismantled a human trafficking syndicate of Cameroonian nationals who specializes in luring and kidnapping unsuspecting victims under the guise of processing visas.

The arrest was made following a distress call from a victim (Cameroonian) who had escaped from their hideout in Pakuro area of the Obafemi Owode local government, where she was held hostage.

According to her, she was lured from Cameroon into Nigeria by one Mr Donald under the pretense of processing a Canadian visa for her.

On getting to the Murtala Mohammed Airport, Lagos, she and her younger sister were received by the supposed “agency,” and were said to be transported down to Mowe, Ogun State.

Confirming the incident, in the early hours of Friday, the police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, told Naijajingles that upon the information, a tactical team from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit stormed the criminal hideout where one Kengne Maeva was rescued unhurt.

Odutola stated that two male suspects identified as Ndzana Kamga Isidore and Tingue Stephen were also arrested at the scene, while the principal suspect, Donald remains at large.

She said, “On 4th November 2025, at about 1030hrs, operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, Eleweran, intercepted a distress call from a Cameroonian national who narrated how she had been deceived from Cameroon into Nigeria on 29th September 2025 by one Donald ‘M’, a fellow Cameroonian, who promised to process a Canadian visa for her.

“On 3rd November 2025, the complainant escaped from captivity and alerted the Police, disclosing that more victims who fell for the same ploy were being held in a two-bedroom flat in the Pakuro area of Ogun State.

“Following the report, a tactical team from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit stormed the criminal hideout at Mowe, Ogun State, where Kengne Maeva ‘f’ was rescued unhurt. Two suspects — Ndzana Kamga Isidore ‘m’ and Tingue Stephen ‘m’ were arrested at the scene, while the principal suspect, Donald ‘M’, remains at large”.

Odutola revealed that the victims’ family members in Cameroon had paid a ransom of 3,600,000 CFA into the Cameroonian bank account of the fleeing suspect.

Meanwhile, the State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, has ordered continuous monitoring of similar criminal trends across the state.

Ogunlowo also directed all tactical commanders to engage community stakeholders and Community Development Association (CDA) chairmen, especially in remote areas, to report any suspicious foreign nationals renting apartments to the command’s headquarters.

He reiterated the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, while ensuring that criminal elements find no safe haven within the state.

Naijajingles reported that the command had earlier this week arrested a woman identified as Elizabeth Thomson for allegedly defrauding three people of N8.5m through a fake Canadian work visa.

The victims were said to have taken the supposed approved letters to the Visa Facilitation Service office in Lagos for verification, only to find out that the documents were fake.
