DEFECTION: ADC Favours Peter Obi Than Other Aspirants – Party Spokesman, Abdullahi
National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Bolaji Abdullahi, has disclosed that the party favoured Peter Obi more than any other aspirant while in the party.
Abdullahi made the remark while faulting Obi’s claim that internal wrangling was part of the reason he defected to the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC.
Featuring on Arise Television’s Prime Time, Abdullahi said Obi and Kwankwaso’s defection meant a lot because they are significant politicians.
He said: “I will be lying to say that their defection didn’t mean anything because these are two significant frontline politicians in this country and when you lose those two politicians then you will fill that you have lost something.
“But it’s not a mortal blow because what we are trying to do is to build a broad based coalition that would include everyone.
“The reason we are building this coalition is because our individual parties have been destabilized and the only way out was to come together.
“There was a consensus among us that the direction this country is going was quite precarious and the only way we can win election and rescue the country from the misrule of the APC is to build a party that is formidable enough.
“Obi and Kwankwaso have a different political idea of what the party should be doing.
“Obi said himself that once we present two candidates against President Tinubu, we have given him a chance. I wonder what has changed.
“So if the legal challenges are the reason that we have left after creating the impression that ADC is drowning in these mountains of legal challenges, the answer is no.
“At the moment, we have only three cases which are flimsy without trying to be prejudicial, as the National Publicity Secretary of ADC.
“I can tell you that none of the aspirants and leaders have been favoured like Peter Obi.”

BREAKING: Reps Member Taura Loses Return Ticket as Jigawa APC Adopts Consensus Candidates
The member representing Ringim and Taura Federal Constituency, Hon. Sa’adu Wada Taura, has lost his bid to secure a return ticket ahead of the next election cycle following the adoption of a consensus arrangement by stakeholders.
Hon. Taura was edged out by Hon. Yusha’u Muhammad, who emerged as the preferred candidate after a screening process coordinated by a committee inaugurated by Governor Umar Namadi.
The committee was tasked with assessing aspirants and narrowing the field to three before a final consensus candidate was selected. Findings indicate that no fewer than eleven aspirants had initially expressed interest in contesting the seat.
The developments come amid growing discontent within the constituency over recent actions by Hon. Taura.
The federal lawmaker had earlier faced a backlash after publishing a list of constituents who allegedly received financial support from him since assuming office in 2023. The move sparked outrage, with some beneficiaries rejecting the disclosure and returning the funds to his personal account.
Meanwhile, the member representing Ringim Constituency in the Jigawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Aminu Sule Sankara, has also lost his return ticket.
He was replaced by Hon. Hamza Muhammad Ustaz, who emerged through the same consensus process.

2027 Election: Stay At Home If You Cannot Fight – Datti Baba-Ahmed to Peter Obi
Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, the Labour Party presidential running mate with Peter Obi in the 2023 election, has revealed the major problem he has with the former Anambra State governor.
In an interview released on X Monday, Baba-Ahmed told Peter Obi to stay away from the 2027 presidential election if he is not ready to fight.
He faulted Peter Obi’s exit from the Labour Party, noting that he would have remained to address the opposition party’s challenge.
According to him, the north may not rally behind Peter Obi and former Kano Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso’s presidential ticket as being touted by both politicians.
“As much as I dislike what the All Progressives Congress has done against Nigerians, someone who got the Labour Party’s ticket so easily should have stayed to fix the problem of the party no matter how difficult it is.
“My former leader (Peter Obi) saying that wherever there is a quarrel, he will walk away? So there is a quarrel in Nigeria, will he walk away? If you are not ready to fight, stay in your house,” he stated.
Recall that on Sunday, Peter Obi and Kwankwaso dumped the African Democratic Congress for the Nigerian Democratic Congress.
DAILY POST reports that Peter Obi had earlier defected from LP, where he had run for the 2023 presidential election with Baba-Ahmed.
