ADC to NDC: Peter Obi Ran for His Political Life
The Executive Director, Development Specs Academy, Prof Okey Ikechukwu, has described the defection of Peter Obi from the African Democratic Congress, ADC, to the Nigerian Democratic Congress, NDC, as running for his political life.
Ikechukwu made this remark on Tuesday in an interview on Arise Television’s ‘Morning Show’.
He described Obi’s defection alongside former presidential candidate of the New Nigerian Peoples Party, NNPP, Rabi’u Kwankwaso as a result of “strategic porting”.
“Peter Obi simply ran for his political life. A woman who is running from a lion does not do catwalk. That is where Peter Obi has found himself.
“Peter Obi has moved to a platform no one anticipated, one that holds the prospect of giving us genuine elections in 2027.
“Now those who have to recalibrate are APC and the other parties. Scenarios can be examined because the argument is now on the table. The opposition is splitting itself thin,” he said.

BREAKING: Reps Member Taura Loses Return Ticket as Jigawa APC Adopts Consensus Candidates
The member representing Ringim and Taura Federal Constituency, Hon. Sa’adu Wada Taura, has lost his bid to secure a return ticket ahead of the next election cycle following the adoption of a consensus arrangement by stakeholders.
Hon. Taura was edged out by Hon. Yusha’u Muhammad, who emerged as the preferred candidate after a screening process coordinated by a committee inaugurated by Governor Umar Namadi.
The committee was tasked with assessing aspirants and narrowing the field to three before a final consensus candidate was selected. Findings indicate that no fewer than eleven aspirants had initially expressed interest in contesting the seat.
The developments come amid growing discontent within the constituency over recent actions by Hon. Taura.
The federal lawmaker had earlier faced a backlash after publishing a list of constituents who allegedly received financial support from him since assuming office in 2023. The move sparked outrage, with some beneficiaries rejecting the disclosure and returning the funds to his personal account.
Meanwhile, the member representing Ringim Constituency in the Jigawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Aminu Sule Sankara, has also lost his return ticket.
He was replaced by Hon. Hamza Muhammad Ustaz, who emerged through the same consensus process.

2027 Election: Stay At Home If You Cannot Fight – Datti Baba-Ahmed to Peter Obi
Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, the Labour Party presidential running mate with Peter Obi in the 2023 election, has revealed the major problem he has with the former Anambra State governor.
In an interview released on X Monday, Baba-Ahmed told Peter Obi to stay away from the 2027 presidential election if he is not ready to fight.
He faulted Peter Obi’s exit from the Labour Party, noting that he would have remained to address the opposition party’s challenge.
According to him, the north may not rally behind Peter Obi and former Kano Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso’s presidential ticket as being touted by both politicians.
“As much as I dislike what the All Progressives Congress has done against Nigerians, someone who got the Labour Party’s ticket so easily should have stayed to fix the problem of the party no matter how difficult it is.
“My former leader (Peter Obi) saying that wherever there is a quarrel, he will walk away? So there is a quarrel in Nigeria, will he walk away? If you are not ready to fight, stay in your house,” he stated.
Recall that on Sunday, Peter Obi and Kwankwaso dumped the African Democratic Congress for the Nigerian Democratic Congress.
DAILY POST reports that Peter Obi had earlier defected from LP, where he had run for the 2023 presidential election with Baba-Ahmed.
