BREAKING: Military Conquer Bandits, kill over 50 Repel Multiple Attacks in Borno, Yobe
Troops of Operation Hadin Kai, OPHK, have killed more than 50 terrorists and repelled multiple coordinated attacks on military positions in Borno and Yobe states.
The simultaneous assaults occurred between midnight and 4 am on Thursday, when terrorists targeted troops’ positions in Dikwa, Mafa, Gajibo, and Katarko, all within sectors I and II of the Joint Operations Area.
The Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force North East, OPHK, Lt Col Sani Uba, said in a statement on Thursday in Maiduguri that the troops fought gallantly and professionally, inflicting heavy losses on the insurgents.
“In all instances, troops stood firm, fought gallantly, and repelled the attacks, dealing the terrorists a heavy and decisive blow,” Uba stated.
He said coordinated ground and air operations, supported by precision strikes from the air component of OPHK, led to the neutralisation of more than 50 terrorists across the affected areas.
According to him, the troops recovered 38 AK-47 rifles, seven PKT machine guns, five RPG tubes, two GPMGs, hand grenades, and thousands of assorted rounds of ammunition following the clashes.
Uba added that over 70 wounded terrorists were being pursued by ground forces, while air surveillance continued to track fleeing remnants.
Intelligence reports indicated that the attackers who stormed Dikwa and Gajibo advanced from the Cameroon axis, while those who attacked Katarko came from the Timbuktu Triangle, a notorious terrorist enclave.
He confirmed that some troops sustained injuries but were in stable condition, while a few vehicles and buildings in Mafa and Dikwa were damaged by RPG and drone attacks.
“The Military High Command has commended the gallantry, doggedness, and renewed determination of the troops. Their performance once again reaffirms the military’s resolve and capacity to defend the nation’s territorial integrity,” the statement added.

Morocco Winners of AFCON 2025, Strips Senegal of Title
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced Morocco as winners of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The CAF Appeal Board ruled in favour of Morocco, declaring that Senegal forfeited the AFCON final by walking off the field during the game.
Morocco were awarded a 3–0 walkover victory.
This decision upholds Morocco’s appeal following the chaotic events in the match.
DAILY POST recalls that the Senegal team briefly walked off the pitch in protest after a controversial penalty was awarded to Morocco late in regulation time.
They were called back to the field by their captain, Sadio Mané, and later won the game 1–0.
CAF determined that this action constituted a violation of Article 84, or the equivalent regulations concerning refusal to play or abandoning the field.
Under AFCON rules, a team that refuses to continue playing or leaves the field without authorization faces elimination and forfeiture of the match.

A total of three operatives of different security agencies in Anambra State collapsed during the inauguration of Anambra State Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, on Tuesday.
The incident happened during the parade at the Dr Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka.
The three operatives are one male police operative, another male operative of the Directorate of State Services (DSS) and a female operative of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC.
The police operative collapsed first, followed by the NSCDC operative, who slumped towards the end of the event and was later escorted to an ambulance, after she refused to be moved in a stretcher.
A source said the police operative was later resuscitated, but was still not stable, and was taken in an ambulance to Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku Awka.
The collapse of the service officers was attributed to fatigue and the long period of parade under harsh sunny weather.
