Petroleun Tanker Falls, Discharges 60,000 litres of petrol in Oyo

Another petroleum tanker carrying sixty thousands, 60,000, litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) also known as petroleum has fallen in Oyo State.

The incident occurred at at Iroko town, along Oyo/ Ibadan Expressway in Ibadan, Sunday evening.

It was learnt that the tanker with registration number GZA55OXA swerved into a nearby ditch, spilling its content.

However, no casualty was recorded during the incident, said the Chairman, Oyo State Fire Service, Maroof Akinwande, who confirmed the accident in a statement.

He said, “The emergency was reported at exactly 17:54hrs on Sunday 19th October, 2025.

“On getting to the scene of the accident, it was a MACK trailer tanker with registered number GZA55OXA of 60,000 litres capacity loaded with premium motor spirit (PMS) swerved into a nearby ditch and content gushing out profusely.

“Our officers quickly swung into action by applying chemical foam compound to suppress flammability of the content and prevented it from catching fire from surrounding”.

Our correspondent reports that the latest tanker accident is coming few days after a petroleum tanker collided with a trailer in the Ogbomoso area of the state.
