Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Dennis Guwor, has described the Delta State Security Trust Fund as a bold and forward-thinking initiative designed to strengthen the state’s security architecture.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Nkem Nwaeke, the Speaker reaffirmed the House’s unwavering support for policies and programmes that promote the welfare, safety, and prosperity of all Deltans.
Reacting to the official launch of the Trust Fund, Guwor explained that the fund, established by a law enacted by the Delta State Assembly, is aimed at mobilising resources to complement government investments in security.
He emphasised the legislature’s commitment to providing the necessary backing and oversight to ensure transparency, accountability, and the efficient utilisation of the Delta State Security Trust Fund.
Guwor commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for unveiling the Fund, describing the launch as timely and strategic to the promotion of peace, stability, prosperity, and good governance in the state.
He also called on corporate organisations, development partners, and well-meaning individuals to support the initiative as a shared responsibility towards building a more secure and prosperous Delta State.
The Speaker particularly lauded Governor Oborevwori for his visionary leadership and commitment to building a stronger and more prosperous Delta. He expressed optimism that the initiative would attract significant contributions from stakeholders, citing the landmark donation of N10 billion by the Chairman of Tantita Security Services, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo.
Guwor assured Deltans that the Assembly would continue to provide legislative support and oversight to ensure the effective implementation of the Security Trust Fund.
“The launch of the Security Trust Fund is a testament to the Governor’s dedication to addressing security challenges in our state and creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive,” he said.
“This development marks a significant milestone in our collective efforts to protect lives, property, and economic investments in Delta State.
“As representatives of the people, we understand that security is the bedrock of sustainable development. This fund will provide the much-needed support to our security agencies, enabling them to operate more effectively and respond swiftly to emerging threats.
“Security is everyone’s business. I encourage stakeholders to collaborate with the government in sustaining this fund. Together, we can make Delta a model of safety and peace.”
