Reps in Rowdy Session over Motion to Withdraw Passage of Electoral Bill
Proceedings in the House of Representatives turned rowdy on Tuesday as lawmakers disagreed over a motion seeking to rescind the passage of the Electoral Act Amendment bill.
During plenary, Francis Waive, chairman of the house of representatives committee on rules and business, moved a motion for the house to reverse its decision on the bill which was passed on December 23, 2025.
When Tajudeen Abbas, speaker of the house, put the motion to a voice vote, the “nays” were louder than the “ayes”, but he ruled that the ayes had it.
The ruling triggered protests from lawmakers, who began hollering in objection. Abbas subsequently called for an executive session, but the proposal was also rejected.
Despite the resistance, the speaker moved the house into an executive session.
When the green chamber passed the electoral act in December, it adopted a proposal mandating the real-time transmission of election results to the Independent National Electoral Commission’s result viewing portal (IReV).

Vector Tha Viper, Popular Nigerian Actor Reveals Reasons for not Going to Church
Famous Nigerian rapper, Vector Tha Viper has revealed why he doesn’t attend church, disclosing that he doesn’t believe in church as an edifice.
Speaking in a recent episode of the BTC podcast, Vector explained that he believes in church as “a human being” not a building.
He claimed that the bible emphasises that God is more interested in human heart, stressing that the church is inside the person and not merely a building.
“I don’t believe in church as an edifice or a building. I believe in church as a human being. Because even the bible points to that fact that it is your heart that God is interested in.
“Also, I read a page alleged to be from Thomas and one of the statements read, ‘Behold, if the people that lead you tell you the kingdom is in the sky, then the birds of the sky preceed you. If they tell you the kingdom is in the waters, then the fishes preceed you.
“Rather, the kingdom is both inside of you and outside of you. If you know yourselves, you will become known and you would realise that you are the sons of the living Father. But if you would not know yourself, you will dwell in poverty and the poverty would be you’,” he expressed.
Vector added, “So, if the kingdom is in the church, then the alter is more important that you. The kingdom is a conglomerate of believers. But it is rooted in the individualism of your saving. So, you are saved individually by connecting to God.”
The rapper, however, noted that he isn’t against those who attend churches or dominations in Christendom.

Breaking News: ICPC Tracking N21.6bn Projects in Sokoto State
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, has commenced the tracking of 64 executive and constituency projects valued at approximately N21.6 billion in Sokoto State.
The investigative effort falls under Phase 8 of the ICPC Constituency and Executive Projects Tracking, CEPT, programme, which is currently ongoing in several states across the country.
Mr Aminu Bala, the Team Leader, on Monday announced that the team would inspect projects across various sectors, including health, education, water supply, agriculture, special intervention, and electrification.
According to Bala, the team had already identified irregularities in some projects executed in Kalambaina and Gwuiwa in Wamakko Local Government Area, as well as Mabera and Mana in Sokoto South LGA.
He said the projects did not meet the contract specifications and require redress.
“However, in all the projects identified, our team had instructed the contractors to immediately return to site and do the needful.
“These projects include a Science Laboratory at the Senior Secondary School, Kalambaina, and water schemes at Gwuiwa, Mabera, and Mana,” he said.
Bala added that the 64 projects were awarded under 14 Federal Government agencies and were expected to have been fully executed.
“These projects were awarded at an approximate cost of N21.6 billion and are expected to be fully executed.
“Our group, consisting of members from the ICPC, the Nigeria Institute of Quantity Surveyors, Civil Society Organisations and the media, had fully commenced the exercise.
“We are to monitor and assess project performance, value of work done, contractor identification, payment details, and project status,” he said.
He explained that part of the team’s goal was to determine the value and impact of the projects on the communities they were meant to serve.
