The Yobe State Government has called for calm after announcing the temporary closure of all boarding secondary schools across the state, a precautionary move prompted by emerging security concerns.
The Special Adviser on Security Matters to Governor Buni, General Dahiru Abdulsalam (retd), made the appeal in a statement signed and issued on Sunday in Damaturu.
He reassured parents and residents that there is no cause for alarm, noting that the schools will reopen once the security situation improves.
“The administration of His Excellency, Dr Mai Mala Buni, is fully committed to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our children. Preventive action is better than reactive measures,” he said.
Abdulsalam added that the state government is working closely with security agencies, community vigilantes, and local stakeholders to reinforce protection around schools and communities.
He urged citizens to rely solely on verified information and to avoid spreading rumours capable of heightening tension.
The security adviser expressed appreciation for the public’s cooperation and assured that ongoing efforts will continue to uphold peace and stability across Yobe State.
