Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State has asked residents to observe a voluntary fast on Monday to seek Allah’s guidance amid the state’s security challenges.
In a statewide broadcast on Saturday, he said, “Collective prayer and fasting can strengthen communal faith and bring relief to the state.”
He urged citizens to “remain calm, steadfast, and united” during these difficult times.
Gov. Zulum explained the fast is meant to bring people together in prayer, “seeking divine intervention to ease difficulties facing Borno State and the country at large.”
He reassured the public of his administration’s commitment to stability, security, and welfare, emphasizing the value of patience and calmness.
He also called on religious and community leaders to support the initiative, noting the historical impact of collective supplication in Borno.
Additionally, the governor promised support to farmers, saying his administration would provide the resources needed to boost production.
