Strike: FCTA Doctors Express Displeasure Over Non-implementation Of It’s Demands
The Association of Resident Doctors under the employment of the Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, has expressed displeasure over the non-implementation of its demands despite the approval given by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.
The President of ARD-FCTA, Dr George Ebong, made this known during a press conference on Monday in Abuja.
Recall that ARD-FCTA joined the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors on an indefinite strike action since November 1st, 2025.
The strike has paralysed activities in public hospitals nationwide.
Speaking to journalists on the strike action, Ebong said the government has done nothing regarding its 13 demands despite several engagements.
He lamented that October salaries are yet to be paid to FCTA doctors, condemning the culture of delay in salary payments.
According to him, hospitals in the nation’s capital have remained in bad shape, calling for urgent intervention from the minister.
Ebong urged the minister and the FCTA to address all the doctors’ demands, including settlement of salary arrears, payment of the Medical Residency Training Fund, MRTF, full settlement, promotionand other demands.
“We thought that with the intervention of the Senate and the approval of the FCT minister, our demands would be met. Unfortunately, despite this, none of our demands have been implemented.
“Let me even say, today (Monday), being 3rd November 2025, we have not been paid last month’s salaries.
“Nothing has been positive in that we have tried to engage the management. We are back to where we were before.
“It has become a culture in FCTA that salaries are not paid when due. We get the month’s salary the following month. When salaries are paid, they are never complete.
“We have good doctors, pharmacists, labour scientists, and others, but no good hospitals.
“No matter how good the doctor or other health workers, if you have a good hospital, we cannot function well.
“We believe the minister can always do something. We feel he does not have proper information.
“It is very disappointing that the minister will approve and some person or persons will halt the implementation of the approval, and we are back to square one,” he said.

Morocco Winners of AFCON 2025, Strips Senegal of Title
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced Morocco as winners of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The CAF Appeal Board ruled in favour of Morocco, declaring that Senegal forfeited the AFCON final by walking off the field during the game.
Morocco were awarded a 3–0 walkover victory.
This decision upholds Morocco’s appeal following the chaotic events in the match.
DAILY POST recalls that the Senegal team briefly walked off the pitch in protest after a controversial penalty was awarded to Morocco late in regulation time.
They were called back to the field by their captain, Sadio Mané, and later won the game 1–0.
CAF determined that this action constituted a violation of Article 84, or the equivalent regulations concerning refusal to play or abandoning the field.
Under AFCON rules, a team that refuses to continue playing or leaves the field without authorization faces elimination and forfeiture of the match.

The police operative collapsed first, followed by the NSCDC operative, who slumped towards the end of the event and was later escorted to an ambulance, after she refused to be moved in a stretcher.
A source said the police operative was later resuscitated, but was still not stable, and was taken in an ambulance to Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku Awka.
The collapse of the service officers was attributed to fatigue and the long period of parade under harsh sunny weather.
